In light of the announcement by President Cyril Ramaphosa regarding nationwide closure of schools as of Wednesday this week, and subsequent guidance from the Independent Schools Association of South Africa (ISASA), the Stellenbosch Waldorf School Board of Trustees and College of Teachers has undertaken to implement closure of the Stellenbosch Waldorf School as of Monday 16th March 2020. Should you not have seen the President’s national address, please follow this link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8v_qA4IcDY
We have considered the risk and have decided to err on the side of caution in terms of early school closure. Details around alternate curriculum delivery will be communicated to all parents by individual class teachers, as we are conscious of delivering the best possible education to our students amidst this turbulent and uncertain situation in our country. We are sincerely appreciative of parent support in this regard.
Furthermore, we encourage parents and children to strictly implement the measures advised by the World Health Organisation https://www.who.int/emergencies/diseases/novel-coronavirus-2019/advice-for-public as well as the National Institute of Communicable Diseases www.nicd.ac.za; and we urge to you keep yourselves fully informed by following the necessary media channels and contacting the NICD hotline number 0800029999 if necessary.
Please be assured that the Board of Trustees and College of Teachers will keep you updated with any developments relating to the situation within our school community.
