Primary School: A Time for Imagination and Caring Authority (Classes 1-7): Feeling

As the child enters Primary school, the earlier stage of imitation during the Kindergarten years, expands into a need for applied learning and the guiding authority found in the class teacher. Together with the dynamic Waldorf curriculum, the class teacher serves to develop a love to learn in each child. From ages 7 to 14, the feeling life of the child is engaged through the rich content of the main lessons (see explanation), stories and the direct, unmediated relationship with the class teacher. This main teacher moves with the class throughout the 7 year Primary school cycle and not only teaches the class, but strives to develop understanding, as a supportive and leading aspect in the child’s individual development.

The Class Teacher is supported by a core of running lesson teachers (see details below, under Running Lessons) who meet with the students at different times during a week.
